Interview with Lekside : The latest music Prodigy

The rap scene in Nigeria is heating up and I am ecstatic to be the one to bring the freshest upcoming artistes to your doorstep. A few weeks ago, I did a special interview with one of the best upcoming artistes springing up from my school – Babcock University. I got a lot of awesome feedback on twitter concerning the interview, so I said hey, why not do another special and invite another hot young artiste who is currently working on some killer tracks and a viral video. The name of this dude is Ayoola Adeleke with his moniker as Lekside. Get to know him better in this exclusive interview with this fast – rising music prodigy.

Can we get to know you better?
My name is Ayoola Adeleke Joseph Hakeem, my stage name is Lekside. Um, I’m a person that doesn't focus on one thing. I’m also a very imaginative and humble person.
Any throwback memories of music?
Yeah, back then in high school, it all started as a joke with my first group called R-Rated. We used to sing and rap about things like teachers, schoolwork and stuff like that. I started off as a rapper with my group members Lotado, KidOsmo, MoGunna, and Sogbade. Things got interesting, and later I decided to hit the studio and that’s how I started.
So you rap?
Yes I do. My next track titled See Me ft. Laime sort of sounds like something a singer would do, but I actually rapped in it. It’s in my Trap-house EP coming up soon.
When did music in general start for you?
It started with R-Rated. Like I said, we made music about housemasters, teachers, girls and stuff like that. I decided on my own to record, and one day the producer had problems with the chorus of a song we were working on at the time, so he told us all to try singing. I tried it, and it turned out good, so I said to myself “why can’t I continue with this?”, and since then, my love affair with music began.
Your surname is Adeleke, is there any family ties with David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, If so, has it helped you in any way?
David is a  cousin of mine, but being related to him hasn’t helped me yet, I mean, I’d like to hustle my way in on my own like he did, and you know it’s not always right to mix family with business. That’s why I haven’t met him for assistance yet.
Is there anyone you look up to in the Nigerian Music scene?
Right now, I’ll mention four people – Jesse Jagz, Asa, Tuface, Davido and Wizkid. My main focus though is to be like Jesse Jagz. He’s a really good lyricist.
Is there any one you look up to in the foreign music scene?
Drizzy Drake.
We got exclusive gist that you’re working on something with Laime, can you give us an insider on what’s going on?
Yeah, the name of the track is “See me”. It’s Track 3 on my Traphouse EP. I hope y’all like it.
What is your highest achievement so far?
When I was still trying to move forward, I got a few of my songs on Unilag F.M and other radio stations, I got booked for 2 or 3 shows and things like that.
Any low moments?
Yeah, like every day, having to handle critics and those who don’t like seeing others move forward.
“Strange cloud activities” , the name of your mixtape isn’t the kind of name the average Nigerian artiste gives his music, it seems pretty unique, can you explain how you came up with that name?
A cloud for me has to do with the euphoria I experience with my crew, and to explain the strange things that go on daily, because many things seem strange to me.
How has mixing school and music been working out?
It really doesn’t, that’s why I stopped music for a while, but since I’ve reached a stage of maturity where I can handle both responsibilities at once, I  can do both. I mean, getting a degree isn’t always certified to help you make a living these days, so I have my music to fall back on.
Has being a student of Babcock University helped your music in any way?
Yeah, because I met with many people like Beats by Jay, BOND, shout out to BOND, I met with Pap Jones, Lotado, and my wonderful roommates who tell me the truth about my work, even if it’d hurt me. I’ve improved musically under the Babcock environment.
What do you think is going to keep you afloat in this ever-changing entertainment scene, because as seen in some cases, talent isn’t always the only prerequisite for success?
Other than talent, there’s hard work, take a look at people like Davido and Wizkid. These people worked hard to get to the point they’ve reached. There’s no time to chase time as one of my housemaster’s said. I mean time should be chasing you instead of you changing it. Hard work combined with the fact that I tend to be a trendsetter like Wizkid and Davido would be my assets.
What is your viral video about and who is directing it?
That is for me and my personal savior to know. When I’m dropping it, I guarantee you that you’d find out. It’s gonna be big.
Your work seems pretty good, where do you see yourself in a few years?
I’ll work hard to blow, but that is all down to my personal lord and savior- Jesus. He’s gonna help me through it all.
Before the interview is over, what do you have to tell your fans and prospective fans to watch out for?
Expect new things and big things from me, I won’t disappoint. God bless y’all.

EPL Review: Arsenal vs Chelsea /Everton vs Man utd.

Yesterday saw  only two premier league fixtures played and  as usual, the premier league delivered nothing but high-paced excitement and enjoyment. The fixtures saw Everton take on a Manchester United side which recently garnered some momentum before meeting Chelsea last week and then, the most likely winners face off against a resilient Arsenal side who looked stronger than ever after a confidence-boosting run of 9 domestic wins.
The "Super Sunday" (as days with matches this important are called) kicked off with Manchester United's travel to Goodison Park where they suffered a second  loss in two games after losing 1-0 to Chelsea last time. This took the tally of home wins for the toffees against the red devils to 3 consecutive seasons. A shock 3-0 loss saw McCarthy open the scoring within five minutes with two brilliant goals from John Stones and Kevin Mirallas to seal a win that hindered Manchester United from climbing up to second place on the log.
Next off was a London derby between two bitter rivals. It kicked off with Arsenal aiming to dent Chelsea's title hopes with a morale boosting win over the league leaders. That was not to be the case as both clubs tried hard to produce something out of the fixture all to no avail. The game was barren of goals, but certainly not devoid of action and controversy as opportunities were created and penalty claims were turned down by referee Michael Oliver. The match was also ignited by the sideline rivalry of the two managers Arsene Wenger and JoseMourinho which failed to cause controversy on the day. Chelsea defended well as is known of them against a stronger Arsenal team who pressed earnestly for a winning goal. Another talking point was the return of former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas and how he received boos from the majority of the arsenal faithful.

Break the norm

What's up people, today's post is going to be all about the things I've noticed of recent.
There's this cliché life that everyone lives(and by everyone,I mean most people). The fact that people refuse to question the odds and do something different. To be frank, this is something that really grinds my gears, even though most people won't end up agreeing with me. What has to be said has to be said. I fully understand the fact that so many creative things ha e been dome, and there is barely any room for innovation, resulting I'm people living black and white lives devoid of color and creativity. The same routines are kept by everyone and it just pisses me off. Two thumbs up to anyone out there that is bold enough to break the norm and add a burst of creativity to their lives and the lives of the people that revolve around them. Picture an interesting world with totally different people who choose different ways to do things even if they're doing something general. Think about it, break the norm, surprise the world and break the chain of Sameness.
In other news, I think I'm getting the hang of this interviewing thing, I think I'd make a good journalist. What do you think, leave a comment. I just concluded an interview with an individual called Ayoola Adeleke(follow on twitter @LEKSIDE_III). I'll post it soon, but don't hold your breath on it... Follow me on Twitter: @jojo_deeee. For more info, leave a comment. Till the next time, remember not to doubt yourself.

The next Star

His name and his music are turning heads in Babcock University, and at the moment, he’s just starting. His new single titled “Dobale” featuring Kizz Ernie is a jam that is making its way to charts and is already on the iTunes store. I was granted the privilege to have a short talk with this budding star who is popularly known as “Laime” on the 29th of March, 2015, two days before he officially dropped his earlier mentioned track. He’s one to look out for on the rap scene, before you look for him, enjoy getting to know him through this interview.
Name: Bennibor, Onisolaime
Age: Old enough
What was growing up like for you: Growing up was chilled, it was a simple setting, nothing extraordinary. My mom and I are real close, my dad and I can be shaky at times, but we’re still good. My parents of five children. I went through all the normal Christian stuff a Christian family does – pray, study, pass in school, and stuff like that.
How did you start with music: I started as a singer back in JSS 1, I didn't do rap at all back then. I sang till JSS 3 then when I changed schools in SSS 1, my new school didn't really appreciate singing, singing couldn't grab a crowd like that, so I started with rap through freestyling in the second term of SSS 1. I’m still good at freestyling till now cos’ I’m the not really the patient type, that’s also why I’m not so good at writing. That’s pretty much how I started.
Who do you have as a role model: J. Cole … hands down.
Everyone is venturing into music these days, what do you think makes you special? I’m Laime, that’s why.
Who would you like to feature?  Definitely J. Cole or maybe Jay Z
Should we expect an album? Later on sha, but I’ll drop enough songs to satisfy my fans before that.
What do you do other than music? I just chill, I don’t like stress.
How do you mix music and schoolwork? Simple, I don’t. My schoolwork isn’t all that good, but I try my best. I really don’t think that the people who say you can conveniently mix both are being truthful, because you’re likely to lack behind in one of the two, but I do my best though.
Who are the kind of people you roll with? I roll with my long-term friends, I don’t really roll with anyone who tried to befriend me after my first song dropped.
Relationship status: Single
Any scandals or rumors about you yet? If yes, could you tell? There was actually this rumor that… *scratches head*, never mind, I don’t want to cast myself. Next question please.
What do you think of your fan base, too small or too big? It’s growing.
Something most people don’t know about you?
Any problems with female fans? They just want to talk too much sometimes, and it can be a bit annoying.
Where do you see yourself in a few years?  I would just be at a point where when I’m about to drop a song, I wouldn't need to say I’m about to drop a song.
Big ups to anyone? Big ups to my Momsi, she has always been helpful. Also, I wanna thank my guys, I mean, we've been broke together. Big ups to everyone that listens to me, you guys are great.

On Fake Living

Good day to all of y'all, today i'll be putting on my thinking cap, and i'd advise you to do so too.
Well, being a student of a school as popular as Babcock University is has it's upsides and it's downsides. Sometimes, the things i see make me happy, for instance, there's this girl who literally lives for Christ and is a popular socialite at the same time. Anyone who knows these two things knows that they are as hard to mix as oil and water. Trying to strike a balance between Jesus and being popular can be a really tough call, but this girl does it effortlessly.
Anyways, what i want to talk about is how fake people are getting these days. The thing about a fake item is that it doesn't last long. The same thing applies to humans. Well, i don't mean fake people literally die quickly, but their lives fade off quickly because they live in the shadow of what the society compels them to be. I think it's just sickening to thing that many young adults like me find it difficult to make their own positive decisions without referring to what "that girl" or "that boy" would think. I personally just want to advise most people to be themselves without necessarily looking towards the norm. I really hope this post changes a lot of things, cos' it get's freaky when you see a girl dressed up like the offspring of a rodeo clown and a biological wonder, just to keep up with some fads that barely make any sense at all.
Before i buzz of, Nate Igho says I should tell the world that he actually looks better than the picture of him on campusheathq.com , and to follow Ibukun Joyce on twitter, look up @IbukunJoyce. Follow me on twitter @jojo_deeee for more info on what's what.Till the next post...keep on keepin' on!

Victory At Last

Good day everybody, it's been a particularly hectic day for me here in Babcock University, but i had a smile on my face for most of the day thanks to yesterday night's win over Manchester United. In all fairness to them, the Man. United players played superbly well, but their form was ruptured by ours, and to say that brings me joy would be an understatement. iv'e had more than my fair share of torment as an arsenal fan, due to our nine year trophiless run and poor runs of form for my team, but yesterday night hopefully marked a turnaround in our fortunes at the Emirates. 2006 was the last time we ever emerged victorious at the Theater of Dreams (Old Trafford) and the glory of our victory was crowned not necessarily by the scoreline or the victory but by the scorer of the winning goal - Daniel Welbeck who sealed the win for Arsenal with a superb dribble and a slick finish. It was amazing to see the player who was deemed surplus to requirements by Manchester United Coach Louis Van Gaal , seeing his old club off from the F.A Cup.
I congratulate all the players and members of staff of Arsenal Football Club of England on reaching the semi- finals of the F.A Cup, and hope the best for them in their subsequent matches.
Till the next time don't forget to keep defying  the odds and proving that nothing is impossible like the Arsenal players did last night. Don't forget to follow me on twitter for insightful tweets on my posts and general issues @jojo_deeee

The Generation of Pro-Active Youth

Good day people of the world, I want to personally apologize for the "break in transmission". I've been off the blogging world for a few weeks due to a few reasons i can't put in detail right now.
For a few years now, I've seen the generation of Youth that belong to being subjected to criticism concerning bad behavior, drug peddling, rudeness, disregard of rules, the list of atrocities we are accused of is literally endless. True as these accusations might be, I have noticed something about the category of teenagers and Young adults i was born into. This is the thing that sets us apart from other generations of Youth  .
The separating factor is the "Pro-Active" nature of today's Youth. Today, we no longer have Youth who wait for things to fall into place for them, but rather go ahead into the world to make reasonable and legitimate money(As far as I know) . I'm not discussing what the Youth do with their money (because I understand how riotously we young people spend money when it gets into our hands) , rather i'm discussing and celebrating the people who have shown enough courage to try to make a living at such young ages . Sometimes, these people combine talent, effort, time, studies with parental assistance, and sometimes they are even active without the latter factor.
Such people are exemplary and I would list a few who are within the wingspan of my knowledge.
1. David Nwalupue , David Odize, and Adeola Sonoiki, who form the 3 kings empire have teamed up     to organize monster social events and soccer tourneys @DavidLupee @AdeolaSonoiki_
2. Dada Olayinka, Boluwatife Omoworare, Olowojoba Emmanuel and co. who make up Dwave             Clothing - a great, youthful clothing line @OTUNBA_22 @MC_OLOWOJAY
I'LL MENTION THE REST ON MY TWITTER PAGE, FOLLOW @jojo_deeee ...till then , keep it real. Peace!!!

Show Some Love For Wiz

Good day everyone. I'm still feeling a little bit tired as a result of all the hype I'm putting into this blog. It's really been hectic combining schoolwork and this amazing workpiece togethertogether...but then, I was born ready for things like this , so bring it on Life.
Today I'm gonna be blogging on a lighter note because I'm talking about entertainment. I'm going to center my blog today around someone who was once the sweetheart of Nigerian Music. Personally, I'm a big fan of this dude who released his highly anticipated second album on the 17th of September last year.
Give it up for Ayodeji Balogun aka Wizkid!!!
Ever since he blew with his first studio album some years back, Wizzy (as he is usually called ) went on to become one of the brightest stars in the Nigerian music industry .
Of recent though, the Starboy CEO has come under fire for a lot of reasons which i am yet to fully understand ( if you asked me, I'd say his music is still superb).
Loyal fans of His like myself haven't abandoned him in what seems to be an apostasy of fans.I think it would be refreshing for pur favourite Starboy to know that there are still people who are behind him through it all .I'd really love to have an interview with Wizkid someday, and get a lot of questions answered.Till that day (when I'd probably faint as a result of immense shock), don't forget to keep it real and show some love for Wiz.

Obasanjo Surprises us again

Our ex- president - Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo has been at the heart of so many recent national controversies. Let me set something straight - I'm sincerely affected by   whatever goes on within the borders of my fatherland , and I'm going to use every means possible ( including this blog ) to propagate anything that'd help my nation move forward.
Okay, in the news tonight, our former president has taken a dig at the People's Democratic Party (PDP) by tearing up his membership card in public. This is our ex - president's latest controversial act after he insulted the incumbent president - Goodluck Jonathan by saying that he was afraid of Gen. Buhari imprisoning him if he got elected instead of Jonathan.
Today, Obasanjo publicly displayed his disownment of the PDP by tearing up his card in public... Or rather giving someone else do it in public. This incident would most likely seem to mean that our former president is beginning to pitch his tent in the camp of the APC.
We the "ordinary citizens " can only watch and anticipate the next move of Baba (as Mr Obasanjo is fondly called ) in what seems to be a cat and mouse situation between the ex president and the current president.

Hilarious Breakup lines some Nigerian dudes might have used

Okay...Good morning y'all.
I saw a lot of funny stuff online this valentines and I thought it would only be logical and comical to share these extremely hilarious breakup lines some Nigerian dudes trying to escape buying Valentine's gifts for their ladies. If you don't LOL , you're probably a sadist or sum'n.
1. "When you messaged me on BBM , I saw a red light on my phone, this means that you're a danger to my life, please get out!"
2. "I'm on the phone and you have the guts to make noise by breathing around where I'm calling...please leave immediately!"
3." You don't use my picture as your dp, it's over!"
4."Did you just call me Honey? ...are you calling my Mom a bee?...its over!"
5."Why are you using a broom to sweep my room when you know I support PDP ? ...it's over!"
6." I told you I like my food hot, and you didn't warm the ice cream... Please get out !"
7." I arranged for us to meet by 12:00 noon, you arrived by 11:00 am, I can't date someone who lacks patience...bye bye!"
Okay people, that's all I am not too lazy to post ...if you wanna see more of these rib smashing phrases, simply search up the hashtag #PreValentineBreakuplines on twitter ,Instagram or whatever else that accepts hashtags on the internet.I promise you a few laughs to help you enjoy this week. Don't forget to follow me on
